The curling season can be a long grind but that’s not to say it can’t simultaneously be very rewarding.  There’s no better example of those feelings than the stretch we just completed

Fresh off winning the Canada Cup of Curling in Grande Prairie, AB after a grueling round robin and thrilling final, we flew to Yorkton, Saskatchewan for the Meridian Canadian Open.  The latest stop on the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling series was unique to the other televised Slams in that it was a triple knockout format.

We captured our third Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling championship of the season in Yorkton and our seventh bonspiel victory of the season.

We picked up an 8-2 win in our opener against Team Lawton and followed that up with a 6-1 win over Switzerland's Team Feltscher. After suffering a 7-5 loss in the 'A' Event qualifier to Team Paetz, we faced Team Fleury in the 'B' Event qualifier.  We managed a 7-3 win in that game to advance to the playoffs.

In our quarterfinal match we downed Russia's Team Sidorova 7-2, followed by a 6-0 win in the semifinal against Team Carey.  The final was an exciting battle with Team Jones.  After a couple of key steals in the fifth and sixth end for us it came down to skips stones and we edged past the Manitoba rink for the win.

We’d like to say thanks again to everyone for the kind words for their continued support in back to back championship weeks on the road.

So as much as a long haul the curling season can be as we fly from city to city and spend time away from partners, families and the comforts of home, we are buoyed by the supportive messages from fans on our social channels and at the rink.
