Stockholm Ladies Cup
Greetings from Sweden!
This past week we took part in the Stockholm Ladies Cup as part of the latest stop on the World Curling Tour and we emerged champs!
We finished our pool's round robin with a 3-1 record. Along the way we picked up a 7-2 win in our opening game against Team Tirinzoni (Switzerland) early on Friday, followed by a 7-3 victory over Team Schopp (Germany). Back on the ice in the evening made for a long opening day but we capped it off with our third win over Team Gim (Korea). On Saturday we droppped a close 7-6 decision to Team Hasselborg (Sweden). With tight wins against Teams Sidorova (Russia) and Sigfridsson (Sweden) we nudged our way into the championship final. Team Muirhead (Scotland) gave us a great fight but we squeaked out a 7-5 win. You can catch the replay online on YouTube here.
We were looking to improve on our 2014 runner-up finish at this big international event and in doing so we have extended our points lead in the World Curling Tour.
We were also thrilled to see our former second Alison Kreviazuk (spare for Dawn McEwen on Team Jones) who now lives in Sweden. Happy Birthday Ali!
