Thanksgiving: Curling in Calgary
This Thanksgiving we were in Calgary for the annual Curlers Corner Autumn Gold Curling Classic.
Fresh off a training week and last weekend’s victory in Vernon, B.C., this weekend’s event was a triple knockout format with some of the top teams in the world.
We advanced to the finals of the event after a 5-1 triple knockout record. In the eight-team playoff we got past the previous two Canadian champions in Teams Jones and Carey. In the final on Monday evening we had a close battle with Team Roth of the U.S.A.
We emerged as 6-4 winners over the Americans to win our second title at the Autumn Gold in our second appearance since 2015. This was also our second title on the World Curling Tour in as many weekends.
The Autumn Gold hosted 32 teams, including all of the Roar of the Rings pre-qualified teams.
